Hello Girlfriends! Have you ever read the tags on our Shana Apparel? It says “More than 130 million girls around the world are not in school. And we would like to change that, one charity at a time. With every purchase you make with Shana Apparel you’ll be helping to educate girls around the world.”
I became curious about how this was being accomplished, so I directed an inquiry to Ravi Shajwani, the founder and owner of Shana. He responded so beautifully that I thought I would share his response with you.
“Shana Apparel was established in 2015. Giving back to community has always been our top priority. My wife and I have always worked with nonprofit organizations by donating our time and money towards good causes. As a father of two girls and a husband whose wife’s passion is education, we wanted to focus on educating young kids, especially girls around the globe. There are so many organizations around the world that we want to help with, and we are doing just that.
There are certain organizations that we work with continuously throughout the years. One of them is Monarch School in San Diego, which is for students impacted by homelessness. We also fund meals for approximately 300 women and children every Sunday in India. I personally am able to attend the distribution of food several times a year during my visits to India. This event is run and organized by my family in India for the past 25 years. We also have been able to fund medical expenses for girls in India and Nepal. We also have been able to contribute to Himalayan Hands and Wonderize Sanitary Pads company.
This year we were able to donate about 500 children’s books to an organization that helps establish a small school library in Africa. Also, with COVID-19 pandemic and dire shortage of masks, we were able to donate 1,000 masks to children’s hospital right here in San Diego.”
Let’s wear our Shana today in support of the work of Ravi, his family, and women and children around the world.
